Welcome to

Côr Merched Tybie Ladies Choir

Côr Merched Tybie Ladies Choir is a very friendly, sociable, non-audition choir of approximately 30 members. We pride ourselves on making people welcome and have an active social calendar and enjoy day trips and social events including a Christmas party.

We welcome new members at any time so if you are interested in joining, please email cmtybie@yahoo.co.uk so we can make sure we’ve got everything ready to welcome you on your first Wednesday – you can try us for a month free of charge.

Subs are currently £60 per year – this includes all your music, choir folder and scarves for concerts and helps to cover running expenses e.g. hall hire, MD and accompanist. Subs can be paid in two instalments (typically September and January) or speak to any committee member if you need any different arrangement.

We meet on Wednesday’s at Caerbryn Village Hall, Caerbryn Road, Caerbryn, SA18 3DX between 6.45pm and 9pm and are always open to new members.

We sing music in a relaxed environment and perform a number of concerts and events every year, such as Tybie Fest (the local music festival), Ammanford Christmas Light switch on, Christmas Fayres, Fetes and Food Festivals both in the local area and further afield.

We very much enjoy supporting our local communities by singing at local care homes and weddings and leading the Advent Service annually at St Tybie Church, Llandybie. We normally hold our annual concerts in Llandybie Memorial Hall and at Llandybie RFC.

Formed in 1989 by our first Musical Director, the late Mrs Eira Thomas, in order to take part in the local area Women’s Institute Eisteddfod; we are very proud to sing in English, Welsh as well as embracing the challenge of singing in other languages such as Māori. Over the years we have developed a remarkable repertoire of classic and contemporary songs which include traditional favourites, hymns, West End musical hits, songs from Disney, jazz, Gospel and pop songs.

Under the baton of our current MD, Mr Wyn Turner we are continuing to learn new repertoire as well as reviving some old favourites in both English and Welsh.
